This fast-paced, information-packed workshop focuses on appreciating the qualities—health, ageing, and more—of who is coming to class, and how we meet those needs through an accessible, safe, and successful practice. We explore the value and benefits of adapting familiar yoga poses (Tree, Warrior II, Downward Facing Dog, and 50+ more) up from the mat into a seated position, creating classes that are welcoming, effective, safe, and grounded in compassion and purpose.

Discover how, when, and why to shift sequencing patterns and pose intention to support this amazing specialty style. Practice poses with peers, with opportunities to share ideas and variations. Learn ways to integrate essential balance techniques from a seated position, with guidance on how to evaluate a group to include supported poses in the safest possible way.

In addition to in-class participation, the workshop includes self-study hours for personal development and demonstration of sequence teaching (video, Zoom, in-person). On Day 3, each workshop participant will be assigned a 30-45 minute "practicum" class to highlight skills and awareness. Students will include fellow workshop participants and additional invited LSRS members to create a real-life class experience. Successful completion of all aspects of the workshop is required for the certificate.

The fee includes a comprehensive training resource (Accessible & Safe Chair Yoga, Principles & Practice for Yoga Teachers, Trainers and Yogis), in-class training, peer-to-peer teaching, assessment of assignments, practicum evaluation, certificate of completion, personalized attention, and ongoing connection. After the session wraps up for the day at 1:15 pm, extra practice time, review or Q&A is available until 2:00 pm for those wishing to continue their journey.

Workshop Registration Requirement:  Yoga Fitness Module (BCRPA) and/or RYT® 200 (Yoga Alliance) or equivalent verified training. Mat yoga teaching experience is recommended.

Updating Opportunity:  To refresh or add new skills, alumni may repeat a future confirmed workshop at a reduced rate.

Note:  Even though workshop classes are small to enhance the experience, a minimum registration is required. If this is not met by the confirmation date noted on the registration form the workshop may be cancelled and a full refund issued.
